Service Adjustments begin October 19, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (September 23, 2025) – Pittsburgh Regional Transit adjusts service three times a year.

With regular service changes on October 19, 2025, several routing changes will be made, including:

  • The routing for the 53-Homestead Park, 53L-Homestead Park Limited, 57-Hazelwood, 59-Mon Valley, 61D-Murray Short, 64-Lawrence-Waterfront will be modified in The Waterfront as public transit buses are no longer permitted to serve bus stops on The Waterfront property, at the direction of the property owner/manager. PRT, Homestead Borough, and The Waterfront remain committed to identifying and establishing an alternative bus stop closer to the storefronts and more convenient for riders.
  • The 28X-Airport flyer will have new routing around the airport due to the opening of the new Pittsburgh International Airport terminal. Buses will operate on weekdays every 32 minutes until 10 p.m. and then every 44 minutes from 10 p.m. until end of service; every 33 minutes on Saturdays; and every 36 minutes on Sundays to accommodate the increased travel time to and from the new layover location.
  • ·The current detour of the 54-North Side-Oakland-South Side through Polish Hill due to the closure of the Herron Avenue Bridge will become permanent.

PRT anticipates the construction project at the Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel to wrap up in late October or early November. Please check here for updates: www.rideprt.org/mtwashrailreplace.

Once the tunnel is reopened, all detoured bus and light rail routes will return to regular routing through the transit tunnel.
