This Summer, Pittsburgh Is A Main Character - And the Starring Moments Start in Motion

Summer in Pittsburgh Hits Different When You Ride With PRT

With the NFL Draft successfully in the books, summer has (at least unofficially) started, and the season will be an exciting celebration of art, culture, food, and community. Whether you’re looking forward to annual events like the Three Rivers Arts Festival and Picklesburgh, or smaller neighborhood festivals are more your speed, Pittsburgh has something for everyone. And PRT’s public transportation options make soaking in the city, whether solo or with friends and family, nearly effortless.

If you’re heading to a Pirates game or concert at Acrisure Stadium, the North Shore Connector will make it a seamless experience navigating from downtown to the stadiums. And if your plans are lower key, like catching an outdoor film in Bakery Square or celebrating some of our city’s heritage at Little Italy Days, you can plan ahead with PRT’s numerous bus routes and Light Rail stops.

Pittsburgh Pride - a staple of our city’s LGBTQ+ community, returns from June 5 – June 7. Anthrocon, the world’s largest annual convention for furry fandom, quickly follows at the beginning of July, and musical artist Noah Kahan will take the stage at PNC Park on July 5th.

In mid-July, Picklesburgh will return to Downtown Pittsburgh for four days. This award-winning festival is completely free to attend and will take place on the iconic Sister Bridges, Allegheny Landing, Ford Duquesne Boulevard, PPG Plaza, Market Square, 6th Street, and Heinz Hall Garden. Large crowds and limited parking shouldn’t deter you from this iconic celebration - PRT trains and buses offer stress-free and reliable travel. Similarly, the Deutschtown Music Festival on the North Side and Barrel And Flow Fest at the Stacks at 3 Crossings in the Strip District are excellent opportunities to explore Pittsburgh’s historic neighborhoods via public transportation, with multiple bus routes providing direct access to the celebrations.

To make the most of your Pittsburgh summer, let PRT be your travel companion. Follow @PGHtransit on Instagram, X, and Facebook for real-time updates, route changes, and service tips. Whether you’re heading to a festival or just relishing the summer sun, PRT gets you there - conveniently, affordably, and sustainably.
